Join author Ian Burnet for an intriguing discussion on Captain Bligh - The longest open boat voyage in Maritime History
After the mutiny on the Bounty, William Bligh together with 18 of his men, sailed their 23-foot open boat 6000 kilometers across the Pacific Ocean and through the Torres Strait to reach the nearest outpost of European civilization in only six weeks.
It takes six weeks for a healthy person to die of starvation but sustained by limited ship’s food as well as shellfish and some seabirds, William Bligh and his loyal seamen made one of the greatest open boat voyages in maritime history.
